Style, Class And Glamour

The very first Movado Museum watch was presented at the Museum of Modern Art. The first wrist watch on display at the organization, this watch was designed by Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. Since then, the Movado Museum line of watches has built a look that is uniform: the color choices described above, the use of sapphire crystal, and a light weight. Since the first release of the Movado Museum line, a total of 40 watches have been released as a part of the collection. The majority of the 40 watches have a black background, but there are a few with silver, brown, or white instead. Most of the watches have leather straps.

The Museum watches feature a solid black background. There are no minute or hour markings on the watch, leaving just the hands and a small indentation on the 12 o'clock mark. The design of the hour and minute hands are extremely simple. Overall, the Movado Museum watches are clean and classy. In all, the only color outside of black, brown, or white on the entire watch is located on the casing, the hands, and the indentation. Everywhere else, which would be the background and the strap of the watch, is black, brown, or white depending on the watch you have selected. These watches are available for both genders for as low as a few hundred dollars apiece. These Museum watches will never hit prices over $1000 any time soon.

I researched the price of this watch against other websites, jeweler websites, and local jewelery stores. Websites like (...) had the same watch for $20 more. Jeweler websites and the jewelers at the mall both sold the watch from $100-150 more.
My order came packaged well and came in 4 days. Original Movado box and manual came with the order also.

This is a beautiful watch. It is clean, small, thin and beautifully designed. It is low tech AND I can read the time with or without my glasses as there are no numerals. Who would want a watch like this? Someone who enjoys wearing crisp, elegant, and design-savvy clothes. Someone who decorates their home in sleek but beautiful furnishings. Someone who always wears black. Someone who loves great watches.

...or someone who just enjoys a simple and perfect design.

Someone who really needs to see numbers on the face, or someone who likes to have highly specific times won't be happy with this watch, as there are no numerals and exact timing is impossible.

I love the elegant simplicity of this watch. I can wear it with anything. Being 50+, I can easily see what time it is, and I couldn't say that for a lot of other watches I tried. One customer review stated they thought the band was cheap, but I like the plain black leather and it feels good on my wrist. I never thought I could own a Movado, but at this price, it was a no-brainer.

I bought the Movado Moderna because I had seen one displayed in a retail store and thought it had such a striking look. And don't get me wrong, the watch face is beautiful, but the band is a piece of junk.

I have had mine for a little over a month and only worn it a few times on dress up occasions and already the band is beginning to show signs of extreme stress. Now I wish I had spent the extra money and bought the same watch with a metallic band - which is probably what I will wind up doing when the band breaks - and it will break! By J. Neighbors

I've been very pleased with the Movado Museum watch. Its elegant and sophisicated with a face that works well for those with a smaller wrist. At first I thought, no second hand, no notches to indicate minutes, how will I be able to tell time? Surprisingly, it is quite easy to read. I have owned my classic museum watch for about 22 years now. The watch overall has been great. I have not treated it as nicely as it deserves to be treated, yet the watch still proved durable even after wearing it to split wood with a wedge and sledgehammer. I had the watch reconditioned after about 15 years of constant wear by the manufacturer in NJ at a cost of about $200 (at that time a new one at [...] was selling for about $250, but mine had sentimental value) and I was not so pleased with their work that is why I did not give this beautiful and durable watch a full 5 stars.

All said and done I recommend this watch with confidence for many reasons first and foremost like all classic designs it is timeless and the build quality of the Museum watch is first rate Movado's are not overpriced like many other higher-end brands. I know that quality watches can go for thousands of dollars, that being said this watch is a solid performer at a reasonable price and represents a good value as well as a statement of elegance. Bought this at a Movado Store last Sunday after doing tons of research on the internet. It indeed looks very sleek and beautiful. However, it makes my wrist VERY UNcomfortable the second I put it on. I let 2 of my friends try wearing it and their wrists are about as thick as mine and they had to take it off after a few minutes.

Please do not rate this as UNHELPFUL if you haven't tried wearing the watch personally. I'm trying to give buyers good advise before they spend a thousand dollars on this watch. There was 3 choices of the same watch, and each of them had different prices. So it made me to doubt wether is it the same. To cut it short I bought the one, which was expensive from all of them, because in the picture the face of the watch and the chain was darker, so i thought they are different.

When the watch arrived it was the same , and i could have paid a lot less. It is pitty, but anyway i saved $600 dollars, if i would have bought it in the stores. The box and everything was Perfect!!! So i am going to buy all my stuff from here, and if the title is the same not to pay much attention to the pictures and go fo the cheapest choice!!!

Right when you get the watch, it looks absolutely gorgeous. In this case, the pictures you see do NOT mislead.

Except on one part, the size is actually a bit smaller than I expected. The strap length is also not the largest. My wrists are average and I am already at the 3'rd to last notch.

I would recommend this to everyone except those with huge wrists, you might have trouble putting this on.

It's simple, it's uncluttered, and it's elegant. Just like the iPod. I love how the 12 o'clock orb reflects light like a silver orb.

If you need to measure microseconds, require vibrating alarms, measure heart beats and receive emails, this is not the watch for you.

I was worried for a bit that I might not be able to tell time with this, but I guessed and got the time right 5 out of 5 times (8:22, 7:50, 6:32, 5:43, 4:25) all within +/- 3 minutes, so I am all set.
